Solving the Favre Epidemic

By now, everyone has probably heard the earth shattering news, all indications point that Brett is back. ESPN reports that Brett Favre?s teammates requested an answer, and now the quarterback has landed in Minnesota for what everyone hopes will be the last time. Does this news surprise anyone? No, I doubt it.

When reports came out a few weeks ago that Favre will officially be retiring, I chose not to write an article on those reports because I know Favre all too well. I think we all now know Favre all too well. My hope is that this is indeed Favre?s last season in the NFL. Don?t get me wrong, I love the old gun slinger but I?m getting sick of ESPN devoting countless SportsCenter?s to Favre. I have seen and heard the same Brett Favre retirement tribute pieces over the past three or four seasons. Then shows like Around the Horn, PTI and 1st and 10 all go around and debate Brett?s legacy again and again. It?s a horrible case of d?j? vu that just will not go away.

So I offer a solution that will once and for all get rid of the Brett Favre epidemic. Let the Vikings win it all. Have the entire NFL just lay down and let the Vikings (a team that probably should have been in the Super Bowl last season if it weren?t for a season ending interception thrown by Favre) win the Lombardi trophy. And just to seal the deal, give Favre the Super Bowl MVP award even if Adrian Peterson runs for 300 yards and 5 TDs. Brett would have no choice but to retire on top and then ESPN and John Madden will finally be able to sleep in peace
