Anyone who has been tuning into the HBO series Hard Knocks knows the Jets expect to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, which as a Jet fan is a refreshing thought. For years the Jets have taken a back seat to the Giants in the minds of sports enthusiasts in New York. Hard Knocks is showing that the Jets are no longer going to take a backseat to anyone. Hopefully, they will show it on the field and not just talk about it in some documentary.
Anyways, the episode last night had a segment focused on Vernon Gholston. A former top ten pick who has done absolutely nothing, except take up a roster spot. Vernon was what I like to call a combine hero. An event that is the most overblown, over-analyzed waste of time in sports. Why do people care that someone runs a 4.4 instead of a 4.45? They aren't wearing pads so the results aren't even pertinent to on field performance. Well last night they made mentioned that Vernon had switched to defensive end. Rex Ryan also went on to say that this was the best he has seen him play and it looks like Vernon might be ready to make some serious contributions. Ryan also said that Gholston was a great teammate and offered to take a pay cut if it would help the team sign players.
Vernon, buddy, Ive got an idea. Keep your money. Find Doc Brown and get him to create a real time machine. Then go back in time and convince the Jets you suck and they should really draft the overlooked Chris Johnson. If you can't do that or become a pro bowl player this year then your sincerity doesn't help for shit. The fact is NFL defenses are too complicated for you to learn, which is the ultimate insult. Especially, when Vince Young plays against those defenses every week and he couldn't spell cat if you gave him "c, a, t, e."
Vernon you play for a New York team we don't care if you're a nice guy or not, we care about results. Until you do we will all hate your presence in the green and white.
