AMD has worked hard to make a come-back from a huge downfall after purchasing ATI a couple of years back. It seems as if just now they are finally starting to see some returns from their purchase of ATI; as now many ATI cards compete and even perform better than similarly priced NVIDIA GPUs. Up until recently, NVIDIA was literally owning ATI, almost every single NVIDIA chipset outperformed comparable ATI chipsets. Now however, ATI has a great line-up in the bargain market all the way up to the cutting-edge, high performance and high cost market.
After finally making some great strides with their ATI division, AMD has decided to kill off the ATI namesake. This is a sad day, as Radeons will no longer be ATI Radeons, but simply AMD Radeons. Although it seems as if only one 3 letter acronym is being replaced by another 3 letter acronym, it is much more than that; at least to me. It is a sad day when any company name dissipates, especially one with such history and prestige as ATI. RIP.
