By now, everyone on that planet knows about the Miami Heat?s trio of superstars, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Aside from the terror they are going to cause on the court in real life, I cannot imagine how on earth anyone is going to be able to stop this star studded team in NBA 2K11. But I will do my best to give you a game plan that we can only hope will contain the Miami Heat.

The main problem that you are going to have to worry about is stopping the tandem of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. In 2K, they have a very similar skill set. They both are very athletic players who excel at running the floor and slashing to the hoop. It?s safe to say that I would rather live with both players taking perimeter jump shots seeing as neither one really lights the nets on fire from the perimeter in 2K. In addition, neither one of their releases are really fast, so it?s easy to close in and contest their shot.

The problem is, how do you force Dwyane and LeBron to shoot from the outside when they are seemingly unstoppable driving to the basket. What I would do if man to man fails is play a 2-3 zone. This will force both players to either drive and kick or take a contested layup against either a power forward or a center. Mastering the 2-3 zone will take some time and effort. You need to practice the rotations and get a feel for the games mechanics. If not, the opposing player will be able to drive in, draw defenders and kick out to a wide open Mike Miller, who will more times than not drain the open three. When running the zone, opposing players also tend to become predictable with kick outs and other passes which will then allow you to play the passing lane and force a lot of turnovers.

If you are able to effectively run that zone, stopping Chris Bosh should not be difficult. As good as Bosh can be in 2K, he is a very soft power forward who can be stopped as long as you put a body on him. The ideal player you would like to guard Bosh is a lanky athletic forward like Josh Smith or Tyrus Thomas who are guys that are quick enough to stay in front of Bosh, but long and athletic enough to contest any post move or jump shot of his. However, any power forward with good size and strength in the game can stop him.

I recommend using this strategy with teams who have trees in their frontcourt. Teams like the Lakers with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum or the Trail Blazers with Marcus Camby and Greg Oden. The key is having the size down low to stop what LeBron and Wade do best, attack the basket. Now this strategy isn?t going to shut down the Heat, but it could slow them down enough to give you a chance to get the win.
