The Monday night football game featuring the Jets and Ravens was nothing short of painful to watch if you were a Jets fan. Mark Sanchez looked like a recovering crack addict when he was forced to do something other than hand the ball off. He finished with an anorexic 74 yards of passing, with a 10-21 clip. I really think I could manage the Jets offense as well as ole Mark does.
His counterpart, Joe Flacco, threw for 248 yards against the Jets staunch defense. Although the Jets defense more than kept the Jets in the game, it was the somewhat forgotten Ravens D that held the Jets to three unsatisfying field goals. Perhaps we had written Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis off well before their careers were finished.
Unfortunately, the youtube video showing Suggs' post-game comments is inaudible, but below is a link that has a very clever and entertaining diagnosis of the game from a man who played a big part in securing the 10-9 win for the Ravens. It is the third video on the page, and it is entitled ?Suggs: The Best Team Won?. (Watch Highlights)
In it, Suggs says such gems as ?When I saw the schedule, I went strait to the gym. I knew we was opening up against my old teacher [Rex Ryan]. You know I love the man to death, but hey, he got to go against the very beast that he created.? He went on to say, ?we just showed who the number one defense is out here tonight.? Fighting words from a pretty tough dude.
The Jets may have another shot at the Ravens if they are lucky enough to meet them in the playoffs, but I can say that I am thoroughly unimpressed with one Mark Sanchez. The guy couldn't hold Joe Flacco's jock, and if he isn't careful, he and fellow USC alum Matt Leinart could be best of pals at Walmart.
