Pay the Man!
There has been a lot of talk in Jets camp regarding Darrelle Revis' contract issues. He has been called by his own coach ?The best player in the NFL.? That is pretty high praise considering he plays on the defensive side of the ball and he doesn't even play a central position like middle linebacker. Further still, Rex Ryan repeatedly uttered these words during a contract year for Revis. Bold comments are nothing new for Ryan however, as he routinely plays his big guy jolly persona to the "fullest." About a week ago, a judge in Connecticut determined that competitive cheerleading is not an official sport that colleges can use to meet gender requirements. In my last article, I listed the top 5 offensive skill players at each position. I compiled the list based off of players? statistics, playoff performances and the players overall impact on the game while he is on the field. For this article, I am going to try and do the same for the defensive side of the ball. However, this is going to be a lot tougher because other than sacks for defensive ends and 3-4 outside linebackers, defensive stats aren?t going to tell the whole story.
